April 13,1944 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended April 12 member bank reserve balances increased $327j000,000. Additions to member bank reserves arose from an increase of $340,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit and decreases of $152,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $20,000,000 in Treasury cash, offset in part by a decrease of $61,000,000' in gold stock and 'increases of $104,000,000 in money in circulation and $22,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves of member banks on Apr'l 12 were estimated to be approximately $1,000,000,000, There was an increase of $316,000,000 in holdings of United States Govern ment securities; bills increased $316,000,000 and certificates $5,000,0^0; while notes decreased $2,000,000 and bonds ¡^3»000,000.
