R. 283 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Released for publication Board of Governors Friday morning, April 21; of the Federal Reserve System not earlier, April 20, I9kk CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended April 19 member bank reserve balances increased $100,000,000. Additions to member bank reserves arose from an increase of $22k,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit, and decreases of $70,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $6,000,000 in Treasury cash, offset in part by a decrease of $10,000,000 in gold stock and increases of $39,000,000 in money in circulation and $150,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve .account&. Excess reserves of member banks on April 19 were estimated to be approximately $900,000,000. There was an increase of $86,000,000 in holdings of United States Government securities» b ills increased .$88,000,000; while bonds decreased $2,000,000 and notes $1,000,000.
