October 26, 19^U CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended October 25 member bank reserve balances increased $126,000,000. Additions to member bank reserves arose from an increase of $1014,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit and decreases of $3*000,000 in Treasury cash and.$86,000,000 in Treasury deposits with- Federal Reserve Banks, offset in part by increases of $59,000,000 in money in circulation and $9,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves of member banks on October 25 were estimated to be approximately $800,000,000, Holdings of loans, discounts and advances increased $137,000,000 and of United States Government securities $17ii,000,000. The increase in holdings *f United States Government securities resulted from increases of $86,000,000 in bills, $67,000,000 in certificates and $21,000,000 in notes.
