Mar, 2; of the Federal Reserve System not earlier* March 1, 1945 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS . During the week: ended February 28, member bank reserve balances increased $229,000,000. Additions to member bank reserves arose from an increase- of $155*000,000 in Reserve Bank credit and decreases of $27,000,000 in'Treasury cash, $57,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $91,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts, offset in part by an increase of $98,000,000 in money in circulation. Excess reserves of member banks on February 28 were estimated to be approximately $900,000,000. Holdings of loans, discounts and advances increased $27,000,000 and of United States Government securities $208,000,000. The increase in holdings of United States 'Government securities' resulted from.an increase of $214,000,000 in bills and a decrease of $6,000,000 in bonds.
