April 5, 194 5 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended April 4 member bank reserve balances increased $48,000,000. Additions to member bank reserves resulted from an increase of $181,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit, offset in part by increasos of $51,0:0,0.'0 in money in circulation,. $23,000,000 in Treasury cash, $25,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $52,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves of member banks on April 4 were estimated to be approximately $900,000,000. Holdings of loans, discounts and advances increased $2,000,000 and of United States Government- securities $64,000,000, The increase in holdings of United States Government securities reflects an increase of $108,000,000 in bills and decreases of $20,000,000 in certificates and $23,000,000 in notes, Changes in member bank reserve balances and related items during the week and the year ended April 4, 1945> were as follows 5 Increase or decrease since April 4, Mar. 23, April 5 1945 1945 ___1944 (In millions of dollars) U.
