July 5» 19^5 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended July 3 member bank reserve balances decreased $38,000,000. . Reductions^in $ember bank reserves' resulted from a decrease of $50.000,000 in "gold“ stock and an increase of $206,000,000 in money in circulation, offset in part by art increase of $38,000,000 in total reserve bank credit and de­ creases of $131.000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts, $29,000,000 in Treasury cash and $20,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. .Excess reserves "of member banks on July 3 were estimated to be approximately $1,700,000,000. Holdings of¡loans, discounts and advances decreased $164,000,000, while holdings Of United States Government securities increased $52,000,000. The increase in holdings of United Stages Government securities reflects increases of $128,000,000 in certificates and $1,000,000 in notes and a decrease of $76,000,000 in bills.
