Aug. 17, 194-5 COUljlTION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS ' During £he- week ended.August 15 member bank reserve balances increased $171,000,000. Additions to member bahk reserves arose from increases of $176,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit and $3,000,000 in Treasury currency and de creases of $140,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $11,000,000 in Treasury cash, offset -in part by a decrease of $21,000,000 in gold stock and increases of $8^,000,0G0 ih money in circulation and $56,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts. ■ Excess reserves of member banks on August 15 were estimated to be approximately $1,200,000,00p. , Holdings of loans, discounts and advances and of 'United States Government securities each docreasod $41/090,00(3, the latter decrease reflecting a like decrease in bills.
