FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended September'5» member bank reserve balances increased "$110,J Jy, JQO. Additions ta member bank reserves arose from an increase of ^¡>129,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit and decreases of $93*000,000 in Treasury jdeposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $43,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts, offset in part by increases of $150,00 ),J00 in money in circulation .and $7,00G,u00 in-Treasury cash. Excess reserves of member banks oh September 5 were estimated to be approximately $980,0G0,o00. Holdings of loans, discounts and advances decreased $65,000,000, while holdings of United States Government securities increased $77,000,000, The in crease in holdings of United States Government securities reflects increases of $184,000,00J in certificates and $61,000,000 in notes, and decreases of $137,000,000 in bonds and $30,->00,000 in bills.
