Form F.R. 283 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Released for publication Board of Governors Friday morning, Dec. 21j of the Federal Reserve System not earlier, December 20, 1945 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended December 19* member bank reserve balances, increased $237,000,000, Additions to member bank reserves arose from increases of $593*000,000 in Reserve Bank credit, $21,000,000 in g:ld stock and $9,000,000 in Treasury currency,- offset in part*by increases of $187,000,000 in money in circu lation, $20,000,000 in Treasury cash, $91,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and'$88,000,000 in nonmember deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves of member banks'on December 19 wore' estimated to be approximately-$1,14.50,000,000. Holdings of loansdiscounts and advances increased $4.8,000,000 and of United States Government securities $175,000,000, The increases in holdings of United States. Government securities, reflects increases of $,n2,000,000 in c e rtifi cates, $79,000,000 in b ills and ?i4,000,J00 in notes.
