January 31» 1946 aONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS « v V * * * ’ .» During the* week ended January 30 member bank reserve balances decreased $178,000,000, Reductions in member’ bank reserves resulted from increases of $181].,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, $60,000,000 in non member deposits and other Federal Reserve accounts and $13,000,000 in Treasury cash and a decr@ase*<of $2lj.,000,0p0 -iii 'Reserve Bank credit, offset in part by a decrease of $63,000,000 in money in circulation and increases of $22,000,000 in gold stock and $19,000,000 in ‘Treasury currency. Excess reserves of member banks on January 30 were estimated to ‘£e approximately $1,220,*000,000* Holdings of loans, ^discounts find advances increased $103,000,000 while holdings of United States Government securities decreased $1^,000,000* The decrease in holdings of United States Government securities reflects decreases of $130,000,000 in certificates and $22,000,000 in notes and an increase of $106,000,000 in b ills.
