March 28,191*6 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended March 27 member bank reserve balances decreased $89,000,000. Reductions in member bank reserves resulted from increases of $623,000,000 in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Baiiks and $31,COO,000 in Treasury cash, offset in part by increases of $1*80,000,000 in Reserve Bank credit, $21*,000,000 in gold stock and $11,000,000 in Treasury currency and decreases of $1*7,000,000 in money in circulation and $1*,000,000 in nonmember deposits iind other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves of member banks on March 27 were esti mated to be-approximately $930,000,000. Holdings of loans, discounts and advances increased $199*000,000 and of United States Government securities $382,000,000. The increase in holdings of United States Government, securities reflects increases of $199*000,000 in certifi cates, $100,000,000 in bills and $83,000,000 in notes.
