BOARD OF GOVERNOR SFor Immediate Release H.4.1 OF THE FEDERA LRESERVE SYSTEM October 13, 1955 WEEKLY AVERAGES OF MEMBER BAN KRESERVES, RESERVE BANK CREDIT, AND RELATED ITMS and STATEMENT OF CONDITION OF THE FEDERA LRESERVE BANKS The weekly average of Member ban kreserve balances fo rthe week ending October 12 increased $28 million to $18,728 million. The principal changes supplying reserves were an increase of $189 millio nin Reserve Bank credit and a decrease of #11 millio nin Treasury deposits with Federa lReserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $124 million in Mone yin circulation, S39 million in Other deposit swith Federa lReserve Banks, and $12 million in Other F. R. accounts (net). Estimated average excess reserves of member bank sfor the week increased $68 million to $591 million. The increase of $189 millio nin averag eReserve Bank credit for the week resulted principally from increases of $65 million in U, S. Government securities bought outright, $64 million in Member ban kborrowings, and $58 million in Float, As of Wednesday ,October 12, holdings of U .S. Government securities bought outright were $145 million higher tha na week earlier ,U, S, Government securities held under repurchase agreement wer e$16 million higher, and Member bank borrowings were $227 million higher.
