BOARD OF GOVERNORS For Immediate Release H.4.1 OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM June 14, 1956 WEEKLY AVERAGES OF MEMBER BANK RESERVES, RESERVE BANK CREDIT, AMD RELATED ITEMS and STATEMENT OF CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS The weekly average of member bank reserves for the week ending June 13 decreased $70 million to $18,74$ million. Estimated required reserves increased $9 million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $79 million to $525 million. Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks exceeded excess reserves by $217 million, compared with $288 million the week before. The principal changes reducing reserves were a decrease of $150 million in member bank borrowings, and increases of $37 million in money in circulation and $27 million in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $64 million in Federal Reserve float, $14 million in gold stock, and $13 million in Federal Reserve holdings of 0. S. Government securities, and a decrease of $31 million in Treasury deposits with Federal . Reserve Banks. Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $69 million. As of Wednesday, June 13, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreement were $20 million lower than a week earlier and member bank borrowings were $191 million higher.
