BOARD OF GOVERNORS For Immediate Release H.U.I OF TEE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM June 11, 1959 WEEKLY AVERAGES OF MEMBER BAN KRESERVES, RESERVE BANK CREDIT, AND RELATED ITEMS and STATEMENT OF CONDITION OF THE FEDERA LRESERVE BANKS The average of daily figures of member ban kreserves for the week ended June 10 decreased $10 millio nto $l8,314 million. Estimated required reserves decreased $138 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $128 million to $45^ million. Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks exceeded excess reserves by $525 million, compared with $523 millio nthe week before. . . '^ie Principal changes reducing average reserves were decreases of $79 million in federal Reserve float and $47 million in gold stock ,and an increase of $162 million in money in circulation. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $130 millio nin member ban kborrowings and $34 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, and decreases of $72 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $37 million in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. Total Reserve Bank credit increased $86 million. As of Wednesday, June 10, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $40 million higher than a week earlie rand member bank borrowings were $174 million higher.
