F E D E R A L R E S E R V E Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks For immediate release ' * fML RtS June 13, 1963 h .4.*i— * The average of daily figures of total member hank reserves held during the week ended June 12 decreased a net of $30 million to $19,409 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks decreased $35 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks increased $5 million. Estimated required reserves decreased $83 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $53 million to $398 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $l48 million, compared with the revised figure of $127 million the week before. The principal changes supplying average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $322 million in U- S. Government securities bought outright, $64 million in Federal Reserve float, and $32 million in member bank borrowings. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $199 million in currency in circulation, $131 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, and $49 million in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. Total Reserve Bank credit increased $393 million. As of Wednesday, June 12, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $l4 million higher than a week earlier, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreement were $117 million higher, and member bank borrowings were $84 million higher.
