F E D E R AL R E S E R VE Factors Affecting Bonk Reserves aid -rftiS^y Condition Statement of F.R. lanks For immediate release H.4.1 March 26, 196^ The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended March 25 increased $275 million to $20,489 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $58 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks increased $217 million. Estimated required reserves increased $138 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $137 million to $512 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $233 million,, compared with the revised figure of $17 million the week before. The principal changes supplying average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $215 million in Federal Reserve float and $106 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright and decreases of $55 million in "other" F.R. accounts (net) and $35 million in currency in cir culation. The principal offsetting changes were a decrease of $79 million in^ member bank borrowings and an increeae of $147 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. Total Reserve B&B& credit increased $270 million. As of Wednesday, March 25, 1#3J8*»|P 0* S. S. Government securities bought outright were $160 million RtgtWr ttm a weak earlier, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agre«»4mt were $112 million lower, and member bank borrowings were $898 million lower.
