•lv°l^e*:. F E D E R AL R E S E R VE Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks For immediate release H.4.1 April 30, 196*4- The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended April 29 decreased a net of $370 million to $19,952 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $86 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $V?6 million. Estimated required reserves decreased $13^ million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $236 million to $205 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $70 million, compared with $122 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were decreases of $39^ million in Federal Reserve float, $184 mil lion in member bank borrowings, and $65 million in U- S. Government securities bought outright. The principal offsetting changes were an increase of $101 mil lion in U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreement and a decrease of $99 million in currency in circulation. Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $510 million, As of Wednesday, April 29, holdings of U. S* Government securities bought outright were $191 million higher than a week earlier, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreement were $64 million higher, and member ba$k borrowings were $235 million higher.
