.•^0*GOVi F E D E R AL R E S E R VE Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks For immediate release March 3, 1966 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended March 2 decreased a net of $6 million to $22,098 million- Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $138 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $lkh million. Estimated required reserves increased $89 million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $95 million to $292 million- Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks exceeded excess reserves by $172 million, compared with the revised net borrowed figure of $133 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were decreases of $72 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, $67 million in Federal Reserve float, and $56 million in member bank borrowings. The principal offsetting change was a decrease of $36 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $181 million. As of Wednesday, March 2, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $59 million higher than a week earlier and member bank borrowings were $8 million higher.
