• v;o£CovA*. F E D E R AL R E S E R VE Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks H.4.1 For immediate release August k, 1966 Figures on factors affecting bank reserves continue to show effects of delays in inter-city and inter-district check clearances resulting from the airline strike. During the week ended August 3* the average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held increased a net of $U6 million to $22,980 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks decreased $80 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks increased $126 million. Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks exceeded excess reserves by $ij-27 million, compared with the revised net borrowed figure of $432 million the week before. The principal changes supplying average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $k±k million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, $158 million in U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agree ments, and $98 million in member bank borrowings, and a decrease of $102 million in "other" F. R. accounts (net). The principal offsetting changes were decreases of $336 million in Federal Reserve float and $7^ million in gold stock, and increases of $175 million in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks and $70 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks.
