F E D E R AL R E S E R VE Foctors Affecting Bonk Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks Fdr immediate release April 20, 1967 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended April 19, increased $U05 million to $23,578 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $17^- million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks increased $231 million. Estimated required reserves increased $168 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $237 million to $^90 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $312 million, compared with the revised figure of $108 million the the week before. The principal changes supplying average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $331 million in Federal Reserve float, $H8 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, and $33 million in member bank borrowings, and a decrease of $128 million in "other'' F. R. accounts (net), principal offsetting changes were a decrease of $127 million in U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreements, and an increase of $183 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. Total Reserve Bank credit increased $26^- million. As of Wednesday, April 19, 1967, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $552 million higher than a week earlier, U. S. Government securities held under repurchase agreements were $lJ+2 million lower, and member bank borrowings were $712 million lower.
