Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. Banks H.4.1 For immediate release August 3, 1967 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended August 2, decreased $67 million to $23,951 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks decreased $6 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $6l million. Estimated required reserves increased $35 million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $102 million to $322 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by -$2©6-«illion, compared with the revised figure of $370 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were a decrease of $193 million in Federal Reserve float, and an increase of $202 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $118 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, and $62 million in member bank borrowings, and a decrease of $118 million in "other" F. R. accounts (net). Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $9 million. As of Wednesday, August 2, 1967, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $50 million lower than a week earlier, and member bank borrowings were $385 million higher.
